Get ready to #RockThePlate May 13th at The Brewers Plate
TORONTO: The Brewers Plate on Wednesday, May 13, is a celebration of local chefs, local food and local beer. It’s an indulgent evening featuring unlimited sampling of collaborations between renowned rock star chefs and Ontario brewers. Now in its eighth year, this charitable event is a thank you to the province’s brewers and farmers – all wrapped in a rock and roll theme featuring the music of The Worts and presented by NOW Magazine and Q107.
Participating chefs and breweries from across Ontario are collaborating to create dishes that will tell a story about local food and beer. Pairings include Chef Brent Maxwell of East Thirty Six with Big Rig Brewery, ChocoSol Traders’ delights harmonizing with Black Oak Brewing, and Chef Kevin Prendergast of Tundra with the ever-popular Broadhead Brewing Company. Proceeds from this year’s event will directly support work that is growing the diversity and distinctiveness of Ontario-grown product. The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation, the beneficiary of Brewers Plate 2015, works to preserve the world’s largest permanently protected greenbelt, right here in Ontario.
“We are excited to receive such a generous donation and to be a part of an event that celebrates what’s grown in Ontario’s very own backyard,” says Burkhard Mausberg, CEO of the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation and the Greenbelt Fund. “We will use this contribution to support our continued commitment to both local food and craft brewers, especially given their increasing interest in sourcing locally and Greenbelt grown ingredients, including Ontario hops.”
