What to expect if you’re coming to #RockThePlate on May 18th

You tickets are purchased. You printed them out and stuck them on the fridge. You are mentally preparing for the unlimited sampling of #RockThePlate in support of War Child Canada. Here are some tips to get the most out of this one-of-a-kind evening:

Dress up your favourite band tee shirt!

This is the dress code. Throw a blazer over that old Rolling Stones tee and you are set! It’s super cool to see some of the shirts on display. Last year, there were some amazing ones: The Monkees, GnF’nR, The Beatles, Joy Division, Stone Temple Pilots, and even a Mozart and an Oscar Peterson!

Bring some cash!

There are plenty of ways to donate to War Child Canada throughout the night. Silent Auction, Arms-Length Raffle, and even a running of the balls (This is like our version of a 50/50 draw, but only if the Corus people let us use the slide). The #6Dad Norm Kelly who just brewed a beer with Great Lakes Brewery will be the highlight of the night when he auctions off an amazing Brew Day Experience with him at GLB. Totally unique experience! (There will be ATMs on site, btw)

Try Everything!

There will be soooooo much food and a huge variety of beer as well. Pace yourself and try a little but of everything.

Talk To Everyone!

The band tee shirts provide an avenue for great opening lines. Ie “Excuse me, but isn’t that Devo on your shirt? Where in the world did you get a Devo shirt?” Seriously tho, this event inspires conversations. Talk to other people. Talk to the Chefs. Talk to the Brewers. Everyone at Brewers Plate loves food and beer… and I’m just gunna go ahead and assume you do as well.

Take lots of pics!

#RockThePlate is the hashtag. @BrewersPlateTO is the Twitter handle. All supporting @WarChildCan. Make your network jealous by showing off all the tasty suds and delicious fare you will be consuming. And; of course all the beautiful people you’ll be hanging out with that night. Don’t forget selfies! Can’t forget the most important of them all… you. Show off that band tee!

Get home safe!

Brewers Plate runs 6p to 11p. Make sure you have a plan to arrive early and get home safe! Uber, taxi, bike, car. (There is a paid lot right in front of Corus Quay, but then you have to have a Designated Driver, and this is a beer event, silly.)

The TTC routes that work are 75 Sherbourne Bus, 6 Bay Bus and Union Station is walking distance.

Now you are prepared for this incredible night – which could not happen without:

Ontario Craft Brewers Association, MNP, Q107, 102.1 The Edge, Flanagan Food Service, Steve’s Music, Yorkshire Valley Farms, Woolwich Dairy, Cheese Boutique, and DuBreton.

See you on the 18th!
